The project, based in Maidstone, was aimed to make its artistic population visible, building bridges between the arts and the town to put Maidstone on the map as a centre for creativity. It was designed for Arts at The Centre and funded by Arts Council England.

The project succeeded in obtaining a licensed busking area in the centre of town named ‘Artists Don’t Bite Buskers Spot 1’ that was launched on the 11th October 2008.

The project aims were to create opportunities for local artists and graduates from the local university (UCA) to retain their presence in town after graduation. ‘Artists Don’t’ Bite’ was a successful experiment and my objective now is to propose the format for the Cultural Olympiad and extend it to other areas of the South East.
